What is Micropigmentation?

Micropigmentation is called by several different terms, including:

  • Permanent cosmetics

  • Microblading

  • Microstroking

  • Eyebrow embroidery

  • Long-lasting makeup

  • Cosmetic tattooing

  • Dermal pigmentation

These terms all refer to the process of tattooing color onto your skin to create fuller eyebrows, defined eyes with subtle or more dramatic eyeliner, or permanent lip color.

How Does Micropigmentation Work?

The procedure is performed with a specialized configuration of needles. Our Esthetician manually creates lines that mimic natural brow hair, eyeliner, or lip liner to help define your most attractive features. Although the term “microblading” may sound as if a blade is used during treatment, these tools are not employed in the micropigmentation process. Blades and scalpels are medical devices and are not used in this non-invasive facial enhancement process.

Is Micropigmentation Permanent?

While the tattooing procedure creates long-lasting makeup, the effect lasts for about 2 to 4 years. Color is permanently applied to the dermis, or beneath your skin for long-lasting results. Like any tattoo, the colors can fade over time. As a smaller amount of pigment is inserted into the skin around your eyebrows, eyes or lips, touchup treatments may be needed to restore the color after a few years have passed.
